Dr. Vinod T. Gore is one of India's most senior and accomplished surgical oncologists, with nearly three decades of clinical practice in complex cancer surgery and a dedicated, high-volume breast cancer surgical practice. He is the founding Department Head of Surgical Oncology at Sahyadri Manipal Hospital, Pune — a department he built from its inception in 2009 into one of the city's leading cancer surgery services.
He trained for five years at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai — India's premier cancer centre — across breast oncology, head & neck oncology, thoracic oncology, gastrointestinal oncology, gynaecological oncology, uro-oncology, reconstructive oncology and minimally invasive cancer surgery. This was complemented by three years in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Sassoon General Hospital — expertise that directly shapes his oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery practice today, allowing him to combine complete cancer clearance with natural breast shape and aesthetic restoration.
Dr. Gore holds the FARIS credential from the University of Edinburgh (Fellowship in Advanced Robotic & Innovative Surgery) — one of the most prestigious international robotic surgery qualifications, held by very few Indian surgeons. His hospital is an ARIS-designated Centre of Excellence for robotic surgery, where he serves as an official Training Mentor guiding the next generation of robotic cancer surgeons. He was awarded Best Robotic Oncosurgeon by Navbharat Times (2024) and recognised as a Trailblazer Leader in Oncology by The Economic Times (2025).
A pioneer in his field, Dr. Gore performed the first Electrochemotherapy procedure in Asia (2013) and helped develop India's first indigenous ECT machine. He is equally distinguished as a teacher — Assistant Professor of Surgery at Bharati Vidyapeeth (2008–2019) and a recognised DNB Guide with the National Board of Examinations — and as a public health advocate, serving as Patron, Maharashtra — Voice of Tobacco Victims (VoTV) for over two decades.
A complete range of modern breast surgical procedures, foregrounding breast preservation, aesthetic reconstruction and minimally invasive techniques:
Lumpectomy and wide local excision removing the tumour while preserving the breast, with excellent cosmetic and oncological outcomes.
Cancer removal combined with plastic-surgical reshaping techniques — backed by 3 years of formal plastic & reconstructive training.
Complete, safe removal of breast tissue and axillary nodes for advanced or extensive disease.
Tissue-preserving mastectomy with immediate reconstruction for optimal aesthetic results.
Implant-based and microvascular free-flap (incl. DIEP) reconstruction to rebuild the breast after mastectomy.
Targeted nodal assessment with ICG fluorescence guidance to avoid unnecessary axillary clearance.
Precise nodal clearance where disease has spread to the axilla.
Advanced robotic and minimally invasive breast surgery (FARIS, Edinburgh) for selected cases with faster recovery.
Surgery for male breast cancer and gynaecomastia with discreet, expert care.
Wide excision and appropriate management of phyllodes and other fibroepithelial tumours.
Fibroadenoma excision, microdochectomy, duct excision and management of breast lumps and discharge.
Safe chemoport insertion for comfortable, reliable delivery of breast cancer chemotherapy.

Comprehensive training across breast, head & neck, thoracic (research fellowship), GI, gynaecological, uro- and reconstructive oncology — the most rigorous surgical oncology training in India.
Advanced skills in flap surgery, microvascular reconstruction and oncoplastic principles — directly informing his oncoplastic breast surgery and free-flap reconstruction practice today.
Eleven years teaching MBBS students and surgical postgraduates; active examiner and clinical teacher.
Built the Department of Surgical Oncology from inception into one of Pune's leading cancer surgery services, offering robotic, HIPEC, electrochemotherapy and ICG-guided surgery.
Performed the first ECT procedure in Asia and later helped develop India's first indigenous ECT machine.
FARIS fellowship from the University of Edinburgh; his hospital is an ARIS-designated Centre of Excellence where he serves as an official Training Mentor. Best Robotic Oncosurgeon, Navbharat Times 2024.
Dr. Gore holds three distinct and complementary robotic surgery credentials — placing him among a very small group of surgical oncologists in India who combine international academic credentials with an active, high-volume robotic surgical practice, including robotic breast surgery.
